To the Alpine rose blossom on the Rotmoos pasture
Many regular visitors to the Merano area return on holiday to South Tyrol in late-June to see the Alpine roses in full bloom. The area around the Tallner Alm up to the Rotmoos pasture never ceases to amaze mountain lovers with its vibrant display of colour… the deep red Alpine roses, the lush green Alpine slopes and the brownish-grey mountain rocks.
The hike begins at the Verdines-Talle cable car mountain station, continuing with the chair lift to the Grube. After about 20 minutes, you’ll have reached the edge of the forest near Klammebem (path no. 8A). The route then continues to the Tallner Alm, where you join hiking trail no. 2B and walk through the fields of Alpine roses to the Rotmoos pasture. You can then choose whether to walk to the Mahdalm or the Hinteregger Alm, both of which will entice you in for some well-deserved refreshment.
Once you’ve refuelled yourselves, continue down to the Gompm Alm and take the flat forest path (no. 2) to the mountain station of the Talle-Grube chair lift. The chair lift will take you to Oberkirn, where you can get on the cable car to Verdines.
Once you’ve taken the cable car back to Verdines, you can return to Scena or Merano in comfort by taking the bus.
