Circular hike to Prenn via the Wahlerhöfe

The Wahlerhöfe are Scena’s highest mountain farms and have been run with diligence and enthusiasm for generations. Alongside the Portnerhof, this hike offers beautiful views of the South Tyrolean mountain landscape and glimpses into how it has developed in the last few centuries.

The circular hike begins at the Verdines-Talle cable car mountain station and takes you up to the rustic Portnerhof, just above the Oberkirn Inn. With its old farmhouse, the surrounding meadows and its service buildings, this place shows this mountain farm’s way of life off in just the right way. The gentle ascent takes you further to the mountain road, which will get you to the Wahlerhöfe in approx. 20 minutes. Above this, the hike will take you on a gentle descent towards Prenn. From here, the return journey above the Prennanger Inn (path no. 40A) begins, leading through a pine forest and continuing over the Oberkirn mountain meadows as it brings you back to the Verdines-Talle cable car mountain station.
